REVIEWS
"Petričić chooses to perform on the bayan for 15 out of 27 compositions, reserving the organ for the other 12, even when his instrumental choices often make life far more difficult for himself. One example comes in the Gloria, BWV 675, where the artist states that the work on the bayan 'poses a substantial challenge for the performer; having no good place to break the phrase, it is played with the bellows fully open.' One would not know that any of these difficulties exist in his performance of the work, so assured, so easy does he make everything seem. And so natural a player is he, and so easily does he handle the difficulties in these works that the music here truly shines. And the sound of the bayan? Like a small portative organ!... If you are on the lookout for a fine recording of the Clavier-Übung III with a few quirks, then Petričić’s version here on bayan and organ will surely satisfy that need."
Scott Noriega, Fanfare [September/October 2023]
"This rather unusual performance...offers and enlightening and surprisingly affecting interpretation of the piece."
Amber Wingler, SAI Pan Pipes [Summer 2023]
"As an experiment in contrasting and occasionally complementary sonorities, Petričić’s performance is thoroughly engaging and involving."

FISK ORGAN: Opus 154 (2020)
Northminster Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana

From the outset, discussions for a new organ at Northminster Presbyterian Church revolved around the need for a versatile instrument to lead the congregation in hymn singing, accompany the church’s superb 3-voice choir, and be able to perform a wide range of organ literature that would make the best use of a confined chancel placement. With these three goals identified, a concept developed for the organ concurrent with a re-imagined chancel. In the new design scheme, the proscenium and side walls that bounded the existing organ chamber would be removed, increasing both volume and the footprint of the chancel area, creating a single acoustical space for music-making and the spoken word. Design ideas for the organ and chancel layout were tested in a 1:16 scale model, allowing for thorough examination and discussion of merits and limitations. The result of the collaborative effort that took place is the Fisk organ heard in these recordings, an instrument in an acoustically supportive environment that serves the larger needs of the church and supports the continued development of a robust music ministry. The specifications of the instrument lean toward the German Baroque, but include an enclosed, front-toback Swell division for effective accompaniment functions. The organ is thus eclectic in that it combines a German principal chorus and Schnitger-style reeds on Great and Pedal with French Romantic flues and Hautbois in the Swell. Opus 154 has a sensitive and responsive tracker key action in all divisions, a lively and buoyant wind system, and state-of-the-art combination action.
