REVIEWS
"Ensemble for the Seicento...handles this music with brio...spirited playing all around...It's a pleasure to hear an ensemble that's not afraid to rock when the music warrants it. All the brightness and spirit are vividly captured in a recording that has a detailed but very natural sound."
EARLY MUSIC AMERICA, FALL 2002
PROGRAM NOTES
ENSEMBLE FOR THE SEICENTO represents the collaboration of four performers from different musical, cultural, and educational backgrounds, with a mutual passion for early Italian Baroque music. The Ensemble's unique and imaginative instrumental palette allows for lively and colorfully varied continuo and solo combinations and fresh, dynamic interpretations of music from a fascinating time of transition between the Renaissance and the Baroque. Formed in 1995, the New York-based ensemble has presented concerts for numerous seasons under the auspices of the Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert Series, and was a finalist in the 2000 Dorian/Early Music America Recording Competition.PROGRAM
