The jazz compositions of Garth Alper are a marvelous blend of creative nuance, logical structure and a wry sense of humor. The CD Inroads, comprised entirely of Dr. Alper's music, features Garth at the piano, Bob Nash on bass, and Dave Schmalenberger on drums. The musicians do a  wonderful job of getting the essence of the compositions across, while at the same time putting their individual stamps on the CD. Schmalenberger and Nash's fine timekeeping is matched by their strong grooves and sense of swing.
When Garth isn't composing and performing, he's teaching jazz piano and coordinating the Music Media program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Bump
