Technical brilliance

Duo Renard. Critics have praised Mark and Ute Miller for
the perfection of their ensemble playing, their professional musicianship,
and their concert programming. The Koln-Bonner Musikkalender called
their first CD recording of works by Fuchs, Kuhnl and Martinu "a treasure
trove for lovers of intimate string sound." Recipients of a prestigious
National Endowment for the Arts "Rural Residencies" chamber music grant,
Duo Renard was named "Artists in Residence" in the Department of Music
at Texas A&M University - Commerce. In addition to presenting recitals
throughout Texas, Duo Renard continues to perform in Germany.
Mark Miller
grew up in northern California. He studied violin with Yuval Yaron, Roman
Totenberg and Jurgen Kussmaul, and served as assistant concertmaster in
the Robert Schumann Chamber Orchestra of Dusseldorf, Germany, before joining
the Orchester der Beethovenhalle Bonn in 1990. He is concertmaster of the
East Symphony and the North East Texas Symphony, and performs with the
Fort Worth Symphony and Dallas Opera Orchestra. Mark Miller's violin was
built in 1995 by Alceste Bulfari.
Ute Miller
is a native of Frankfurt-Main, Germany. She studied viola in Frankfurt,
Dusseldorf and Boston, with teachers including Jurgen Kussmaul and Raphael
Hillyer. She has played for the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and in 1988 was
appointed assistant principal violist of the Gurzenich Orchestra-Cologne
Philharmonic. She is principal violist of the Dallas Opera Orchestra and
North East Texas Symphony, and a member of the Fort Worth Symphony. Ute
Miller plays a viola made by Michael Ledfuß, 1984
