STEPHEN J.
KETTERER
Von Beckerath
Organ at Edgewood
Washington, Connecticut
$14.95 ~ MS1225
"The
acoustics are remarkably good, and the organ certainly has the resources for
this varied program...Ketterer plays with an appropriate sense of style...solo
reeds are potent, the strings are quite nice, and the full ensemble
well-balanced...Good recording by a very talented performer."
American Record Guide ~ July/August 2007
"...[a]
perfect acoustic ... Ketterer plays his favorites on this recording.
The title [of the disc] alludes to the fact that all the pieces have special
associations for the performer. The
resulting variety of repertoire is broad, and Ketterer plays as one who
obviously knows and loves this instrument and the music" The Banner,
March 2007

"Perhaps
because the instrument I play is in my home and not in a church or concert hall,
I have found performing on the von Beckerath to be an intensely personal
experience in many ways. This is, after all, an instrument I designed, in a room
I designed, and when I perform, it is almost always for friends. So it might not
be surprising that I have developed very personal associations with many of the
organ works in my repertoire; this recording seemed to be a good chance to
explore some of those associations."

Stephen
J. Ketterer started
playing the piano at age 4, switched to the organ 10 years later, and has been
actively performing ever since. Although it has been 15 years since he held a
church position, he maintains an enthusiastic concert schedule, and happily
donates his musical services for good causes in northwest Connecticut.
Extra-musically, the artist works as president of HIV Research, a worldwide
pharmaceutical market research and consulting firm.
