"Linda
Burman-Hall plays this..mostly familiar music with the proper mix of
subtle humor and naive expression...The unique timbre of [the]
vintage Érard works well in this material...the effect is
charming...something of [her Baroque] sensibility informs her smart
performances. [Patrice Maginnis] conveys the charm and direct expression
of the songs without a trace of pretension." FANFARE,
JUNE/JULY 2004
"...[the]
Érard grand piano (c.1875) [used] for this recital... reflects more than
just an historical correctness. With its great depth, dark tone, and broad
compass, this keyboard seems perfectly suited for the general tone of these
miniature masterworks of Satie... In Burman-Hall's interpretations, the
deeper, and sometimes darker, visions of Satie come across more abundantly
than in many other, more superficial, performances that we have heard."

In "Erik
Satie ~ Visions" she explores a selection of early solo piano works by
enigmatic French composer Erik Satie, shedding new light on them by means of the 1875
Erard Grand piano she plays employs for her performances. The instrument,
tuned to A=435, was built in the years 1868 through 1875 by Pierre and Sebastian Erard, and
restored in Amsterdam by Fritz Janmaat in 1995.
